“A Bridge to Cuba” is the story about sports being the forefront in bridging the gap between the United States and Cuban relations. Since 1961, President John F. Kennedy imposed embargo on Cuba forbidding trading and interaction with The United States. In hope that this would put pressure on the Cuban people to over throw Fidel Castro and communist government. 54 year later On December 18th, 2014 the United States took the first steps to lift the embargo off Cuba and to normalize diplomatic relations between the two countries.
On June 2nd 2015 the global ambassadors of soccer “The New York Cosmos” were the first professional soccer team from the U.S. to make history, to set foot first on the soil since the embargo was lifted. This film captures the journey of the team, Pele, and other stars describing their experiences of the foreign land just 90 miles south of Florida.
